Below are my answers to many of the commonly asked questions I have received. I enjoy hearing from all of you and figured I would put out an F.A.Q. page. I hope to be able to answer questions many of you have asked while at the same time answering questions others who do not sign my guest book may have. Look below to find your question and answer, IF I have not addressed your question feel free to ask it in my guest book and I will get to it as soon as possible!! Please remember that these are just things that worked for me or that I've learned throughout my weightloss process. I am not a nutritional or fitness expert and you should consult your physician before starting any type of weightloss or fitness plan. THANK YOU!
Q. What diet plan did you use or are still using and what did you eat?
A. I joined LA Weightloss Center. This is a healthy well balanced plan combining all the food groups and TEACHES you how to eat nutritiously. I followed the plan to the letter during my wieghtloss, I am currently on the maintenance plan. I have learned how to eat nutritiously and use it as a guideline. It is and always will be a struggle to eat properly. You can find the LA Weightloss on my links page.
Q. What diet should I use? Will it work for me?
A. You need to find a plan that you can stick to and that you will be able to fit into your lifestyle. If you feel you need to be accountable to someone else each week or need strict guidelines to follow then steer towards one of the commercial plans out there, if you feel you can do it at home by just watching what you eat and controlling your portions then go that route. But in my opinion whatever plan you choose WILL WORK as long as YOU work it and stay 100% committed to reaching your goals. If you find that you are eating healthy and you are still not seeing results then a good thing to do is journal everything you put in your mouth. You'll be amazed at all the little incidental calories you could be consuming daily that will stop you from seeing a steady weight loss. Remember, not all plans work for everyone, if you find one particular plan isn't working try something different until you find the right combination for you. It can and will be frustrating at times but if you never give up the end results will be well worth it.
Q. How often did you do Taebo and what tapes did you use?
A. I started out with only 3 days a week using the original Taebo Basic tape then on to the Basic Live. After approx. 2-3 months I moved on to the Taebo Advanced Live tape and upped the number of days I was working out to 5-7 days per week. I now have a library of 14 different Taebo workouts that I switch around between and still workout 5-6 days a week. It keeps my workouts interesting and never lets me get bored.
Q. When will I see results? How long did it take you before you saw results?
A. Everyone is different. Some people may see results within days of starting a workout plan others may take weeks or even months to start seeing any noticible changes. Again, don't get frustrated if you're not seeing immediate results, keep focused on the longterm goal and it will happen. I had already been following my eating plan and started a steady road down the scale for about 2-3 months before even starting Taebo so incorporating in Taebo just enhanced my weightloss almost as soon as I started it.
Q. I'm pregnant or I have health problems...can I do Taebo?
A. Again...I'm not a professional, just an every day person who was able to drop those extra pounds. PLEASE consult your physician before starting ANYTHING. I can't stress that enough. You want to make sure that what you're doing is right for you and your own personal situation.
Q. What made you do it? Why did you start? What was your motivation? What kept you going when it seemed impossible?
A. HHHHMMMM...tough questions. I don't know if I can put my finger on the one thing that finally clicked in my head to start. I was sick of the way I looked and felt. I probably felt 20 years older than I actually was. I wanted to be able to enjoy my life with my husband and my kids for a long time to come. I hated being looked at as just another fat person in the crowd or feeling like I was being stared at or snickered at all the time. My motivation was my success. With every pound and every inch I lost I just became more and more motivated that I was going to make this work this time. I thrived off of how good I felt physically and emotionally all the way down. I hit rough spots just like everyone else but if you take it day by day and remember that every day is a new day full of new choices it makes it a little easier. If you messed up on your eating plan or if you missed a workout one day, don't let it snowball, just pick it all back up the next day and move forward. If I woke up one morning and just didn't feel like working out I pushed myself to get moving and I always felt better within 5 minutes of starting. Not doing it was and still is not an option for me...period.
Q. I have ALOT of weight to loose, my goal seems unreachable, how do I deal with that?
A. I can certainly understand how loosing alot of weight can seem insurmountable at the beginning. When I first started 85 pounds seemed almost impossible to me. What I found that worked really well was to break it down into smaller goals. Maybe 10-15 pound increments. That will give you a more reachable number to shoot for. As you hit each small goal find a way to reward yourself, maybe a manicure, or new book, just something small to look forward to when you reach your minigoal. Then reset a new minigoal to shoot for. You'll find that it will seem like the time passes quicker this way because you are not waiting and waiting to reach that ultimate goal, but will be reaching smaller milestones along the way.
Q. Where can I find and get the support I need?
A. Well, first I really hope that you can get the support of your family and friends. That's so important. Don't try to hide what you're doing from them, that'll only make you feel more alone. Let them know so that they can encourage you and cheer you on. There are also tons of support sites out there on the web. You can find a few of them on my links page or you can just do a search and I'm sure you'll find tons of sites out there that I've never even found yet. Just know that you are not alone in your struggles and that there is always someone out there going through the same thing you are. Look around and find the right group for you.
Q. Do you have alot of loose skin? Where does all the extra skin go?
A. Yes, I do have alot of loose skin leftover from all the weight I carried around of all those years. Is it pretty?...NO of course not, but its the price I have to pay for being overweight for so long. It is certainly tighter now than it would have been if I hadn't worked out throughout my weight loss effort. The solution to the problem...dress to accentuate your positive assets. I can't wear little 1/2 shirts and stuff like that but there are so many other types of clothes that are just as sexy if not more sexy than those. You just pick and choose your wardrobe and wear what makes you look your best. The only other alternative is surgery which I'm not willing to embark on at this moment in time.
